Awkwafina
Awkwafina was initially an American performer and rapper, releasing sly tracks that tackled topics like racial or sexual identities with a funny twist. In the years before she stepped into Hollywood the singer could make a few songs. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her very first musical encounter. She performed on the trumpet. In addition to classical and jazz, the young Nora began studying hip-hop in her teens. While in college, she took classes in the field of women's studies and journalism. She even spent a short time studying Mandarin in Beijing. It wasn't until after graduating that she turned her attention to music. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet sensation and featured in her debut album Yellow Ranger. The album also featured viral hit tracks, such as body-positive Queef and a wink-y home tour NYC Bitche$. The final track was closely linked to Awkwafina's NYC travel guide, published in 2015. In addition to being a published author and a singer, she was also a professional singing. She's appeared in movies including Neighbors 2 Storks, and Bad Rap. In 2018 she landed breakthrough roles in a handful of high-profile films like Dude Ocean's 8, and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP debuted in June.
